FRONTLINE Presents

Miseducation: A Roundtable Discussion on How Climate Change Is Taught in America

A Virtual Event in Partnership with Columbia Global Reports and The GroundTruth Project

Monday, Nov. 15 at 6 p.m. ET

FRONTLINE, Columbia Global Reports and The GroundTruth Project invite you to join a virtual roundtable discussion about misinformation and the state of climate change education. The conversation will highlight the upcoming book MISEDUCATION: How Climate Change Is Taught in America from former FRONTLINE investigative reporter Katie Worth. Worth’s nonfiction book is an alarming exposé on the climate denialism that’s being taught in the classrooms of millions of U.S. public school kids. MISEDUCATION will be available to general audiences on Nov. 16 from Columbia Global Reports, with support from FRONTLINE (PBS) and The GroundTruth Project.

In MISEDUCATION, Worth connects the dots between oil corporations, state legislatures, school boards, think tanks, lobbyists and textbook publishers who have played a key role in sowing uncertainty, confusion and distrust about climate science in American classrooms.

On Nov. 15, hear from the author, Katie Worth; her editor, Jimmy So; FRONTLINE’s executive producer, Raney Aronson-Rath; CEO of The GroundTruth Project, Charles Sennott; and the director of Columbia University’s Earth Institute, Alex Halliday to learn who has tried to influence what children learn and how successful they have been. The virtual forum will be led by the director of Columbia Global Reports, Nicholas Lemann, and will include an introduction from Lee Bollinger, the president of Columbia University.

FEATURED SPEAKERS:

  • Introduction by Lee Bollinger, President of Columbia University
  • Raney Aronson-Rath: Executive Producer, FRONTLINE
  • Jimmy So: Editor, Columbia Global Reports
  • Charles Sennott: CEO, The GroundTruth Project
  • Katie Worth: Author, MISEDUCATION: How Climate Change is Taught in America
  • Alex Halliday: Founding Dean, Columbia Climate School; Director, Earth Institute, Columbia University
