A Nigerian government official provided the below statement about the videos showing security forces allegedly committing human-rights violations to FRONTLINE reporter Evan Williams, who also covered the subject for the U.K.’s Channel 4’s Dispatches program.
Separately, in June, Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan wrote a letter to President Barack Obama responding to similar allegations, parts of which were excerpted in the Nigerian press. In August, the Nigerian military released a statement on its ongoing investigations into allegations of atrocities.
