Tonight’s New Documentary, This Month, and the Future

So many of you have been in touch to express your appreciation for FRONTLINE, PBS and GBH in the wake of Congress’ vote earlier this month to rescind funding for public media. I cannot thank you enough for your support.

My own appreciation for public media began when I was growing up in a small, rural town in a home without a television. I huddled by my radio listening to my local public station — and the indefatigable reporters who told me stories from all around the world. They helped me understand what was possible, and they set me on the road that would lead me to FRONTLINE.

As we continue to work to bridge the gap of our lost public funding, your support of our investigative journalism matters now more than ever. If you have already made a donation to help sustain our work, thank you so much. If you haven’t, and FRONTLINE’s reporting has been meaningful to you, your donation of any amount will go a long way.

Though our funding situation may have changed, our commitment to diligent accountability reporting in the public interest has not. We remain laser-focused on producing trustworthy journalism that is fair, tough, rigorously vetted, and accessible to the entire American public.

This month alone, we released Syria After Assad, an examination of Syria’s uncertain future under jihadist-turned-statesman Ahmad al-Sharaa; Trump’s Power & the Rule of Law, an in-depth look at how President Trump is exerting executive authority; and, in theaters, 2000 Meters to Andriivka, a feature documentary on the Ukraine war in partnership with The Associated Press and from the Oscar-winning team behind 20 Days in Mariupol.

Tonight, July 29, we’ll premiere another documentary, Remaking the Middle East: Israel vs. Iran — a two-hour exploration of the escalating tensions between the countries that have erupted in recent weeks, and the role of the U.S. through decades of difficulty. And this fall, we will return with a fresh slate of deeply reported documentaries that shed new light on crucial stories at home and abroad.
