The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences honored FRONTLINE with two News Emmy Awards on Wed., May 27, 2026. The investigative series, which is produced at GBH in Boston and broadcast nationwide on PBS, will vie for additional Emmys Thursday on night two of the News & Documentary Emmy Awards.

Strike on Iran: The Nuclear Question and Status: Venezuelan were named winners at Wednesday’s News Emmys ceremony, which took place in New York City and was streamed online.

A joint investigation from FRONTLINE, The Washington Post, Evident Media and Bellingcat, Strike on Iran: The Nuclear Question won the News Emmy for “Outstanding Investigative Journalism: Long Form.” From directors and producers Adam Desiderio and Sebastian Walker (see full credits), the December 2025 documentary drew on both rare, on-the-ground access and in-depth forensic analysis. It probed the impact of the June 2025 Israel-U.S. bombing campaign on Iran’s nuclear program, including the scale of destruction on the ground and how the strikes were carried out — offering critical context on what preceded the current war. An updated version of the documentary with new reporting was released in March 2026.

From director Mauricio Rodríguez Pons (see full credits), Status: Venezuelan took home the Emmy for “Outstanding Feature News Story in Spanish.” The December 2025 documentary, a ProPublica production in partnership with the recently launched FRONTLINE FEATURES initiative, told the story of one Venezuelan family in Florida trying to stay together — and stay in the U.S. legally — as they navigated the shifting legal immigration landscape under the Trump administration’s policies.

“These wins reflect the enduring impact of public media journalism,” says FRONTLINE editor-in-chief and executive producer Raney Aronson-Rath. “We share this great news with our editorial partners at The Washington Post, Evident Media, Bellingcat and ProPublica, our committed film teams and, of course, with GBH, PBS, our viewers, and the now-closed Corporation for Public Broadcasting, whose decades of support helped to power our investigative reporting. Our work to serve the public and tell stories that matter continues.”

Including the May 27 News Emmy wins, FRONTLINE has received 112 News & Documentary Emmy Awards since the series began. This year’s two-night ceremony continues on May 28 with the Documentary Emmys, in which FRONTLINE has earned 10 additional nominations.
